Rebuilding Together East Bay North's Work in Richmond
February 23, 2011

Following is information about a great opportunity to give back to the Richmond community where you live and work.

In January 2010, the nonprofit organization Rebuilding Together East Bay-North (RTEBN) began working in Richmond.  So far, Rebuilding Together has renovated two nonprofits housed at Catholic Charities and also worked with a team of Chevron volunteers to paint the offices of Brighter Beginnings, a nonprofit serving teen parents in Richmond.  RTEBN renovates nonprofits so they don’t have to spend their tight resources on expensive building maintenance.

As RTEBN gets additional support from the Richmond community, it plans to rehabilitate homes belonging to low-income elderly, disabled persons and war veterans. Rebuilding Together does this work so that some of our most vulnerable citizens may live longer in their own homes instead of in less comfortable and more costly alternatives such as nursing homes and hospitals.  The overall result : revitalizing our neighborhoods one home and one nonprofit center at a time.

This work is made possible with the support of 1,000+ volunteers per year and donations from individuals, small businesses, corporations and private foundations.   Rebuilding Together would like to invite you and your business to be a sponsor of one of their projects.  As a partner, you would provide funding and volunteers for either their Fall 2011 and/or Spring 2012 rebuilding events in the city of Richmond.

This year RTEBN’s goal is to rehabilitate 25 homes and nine nonprofit facilities in the East Bay. Typical rehabilitation projects include painting, landscaping, and some skilled labor such as carpentry, electrical work, plumbing and flooring. To accomplish their goal, they will need your help organizing volunteers and becoming a financial partner.  They would like to hear from potential partners for their Fall 2011 projects as soon as possible but no later than June 1, 2011.

RTEBN is a non-profit organization that has been working in the East Bay since 1991.  Donations are tax deductible (Taxpayer ID : 94-3238591). Please contact Julie Scheff, Development Manager, Rebuilding Together East Bay-North at:  510-644-8979, or by email: Julie@rtebn.org.

Thank you for your interest in rebuilding Richmond.
