Public Meeting Announced for Richmond’s National Park

Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park releases plan to guide park development for the next two decades

 

(Richmond, CA) – Rosie the Riveter/ WWII Home Front National Historical Park has released the General Management Plan that will guide park development over the next fifteen to twenty years. The public is invited to an open house to learn about the plan alternatives and share ideas and comments. It will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in City Council Chambers at the interim Richmond City Hall, 1401 Marina Way South, Richmond, California 94804. Park staff will be available from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm that day and people are invited to drop in any time during the day or evening.

 

Established in 2000 in collaboration with the city of Richmond and other partners, Rosie the Riveter/ World War II Home Front National Historical Park celebrates the role of countless Americans in Richmond, and across the nation, who made contributions and sacrifices to achieve victory on the home front.

 

The public is invited to review the General Management Plan and provide input on how to begin implementing the concepts expressed in the plan. Copies of the General Management Plan will be available at the open house and can also be obtained in the following ways:

 

• Pick up a copy in person, Monday through Friday during business hours, at the park office, 1401 Marina Way South, Richmond, California 94804.

• Download the document from the internet at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/rori.

• Obtain a copy of the document by mail by sending name and mailing address via email to RORI_Gen_Info@nps.gov, or regular mail to Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park, 1401 Marina Way South, Richmond, CA 94804. This can also be requested by phone at (510) 232-5050.
