Richmond Homefront Festival

Richmond Homefront FestivalThe second annual Richmond Homefront Festival brings a wealth of live music, carnival rides and eclectic family entertainment to the Marina Bay neighborhood this weekend. A celebration aimed at recognizing Richmond's important contributions to the nation's efforts during World War II, the Homefront Festival salutes the work of "Rosie the Riveter" who represents the 18 million women worked in WWII defense industries and support services during the conflict.

After a kick-off USO dance Friday night, the area around Marina Bay will be filled with a variety of entertainment including live music and dance troupes on several stages featuring such highlights as Oakland soul artist Goapele, legendary R&B vocal group the Spinners (who also play a VIP champagne reception Saturday night) youth singing group Crunchy Frog, Andre Thierry & Zydeco Magic and much more. An exciting addition this year will be a carnival area with rides and games for kids of all ages. The festival offers other diversions for kids with a children's art show, a kids' play activities area and a youth talent show. For adults, there weill be a colorful vintage auto show and plenty of gourmet foods from local restaurants as well as plenty of arts and crafts items for purchase. For more information on the festival, please visit the official Richmond Homefront Festival Web site.
