News From Touchable Stories

“Touchable Stories” is currently running at the former Shipyard 3 Cafeteria Building on the right on Canal Boulevard just past where Seacliff Drive turns off to the right. This is an absolutely unique multi-media mind trip about Richmond history and Richmond present.

Touchable Stories are interactive environments and soundscapes based on the lives and viewpoints of the communities it serves. The current performance is a follow-up to the successful Richmond I installation and embarks on two important community activities spanning both coasts.

Richmond: The Story Continues, the highly anticipated follow-up to Richmond: An Introduction I, builds on previous community dialogues and creates new ones. Conceived as a response to the community’s opinions on the first project, Richmond: The Story Continues addresses more of the question “who is Richmond?” Featured in this visual and aural discussion is Richmond’s rich Native American presence, its multi-use shoreline, and its place in the history of the Blues.

Richmond: The Story Continues will also build on the discoveries of Richmond Introduction, regarding Latino history, toxic legacies, and the Tent City Peace Movement, the grassroots non-violence phenomenon born two years ago on the killing grounds of inner Richmond.

Richmond: The Story Continues opens on November 9th for a special run on Fridays (8 pm) and Saturdays (2 and 6 pm) until December 15th 2007. The show is seen by groups of no more than eighteen in a single showing. Group Tours Arranged by Appt. WED & SUN (Min 10 persons/Max 15)

Reservations are critical. To reserve a spot for Richmond: The Story Continues, please call (510) 619-3675.
