Gardens in Richmond?

The Richmond Garden Club meets monthly at the homes of members to talk about and experience gardening. Last week the meeting was at our home, and one of the members, Carrie Zino did an amazing job of capturing in photographs the onset of autumn in Richmond. For a visual feast, see http://zinogirl.phanfare.com/album/204103/656442#imageID=30567058.

The vision and mission of the Richmond Garden Club are:

Vision

· Establish and sustain gardens in our neighborhoods where the community would grow vegetables, herbs, flowers and other plants.
· Beautify Richmond by increasing gardens in empty lots, parks, schools and homes; Develop tree canopies on the streets.
· Enjoy the friendship of neighbors and bring together the diversity in our community.
· Share gardening knowledge and plants.

Mission

To provide a mobile gardening club that allows community members to host meetings in their homes and share in successes, failures and ideas. Whenever possible there would be hands-on gardening work accomplished during the meetings. Plants and knowledge would be shared among
participating members. The clubs would work in collaboration with the Richmond Community Garden, helping in the establishment and maintenance of community gardens in each neighborhood.
