Sea Scouts and PAL Team Up for Youth Opportunities on the Bay

Richmond is a waterfront city with 32 miles of shoreline, more than any other City on San Francisco Bay, and there are virtually no activities available for Richmond youth to participate in maritime activities. Northland Sea Scouts is an extraordinary opportunity for young people in Richmond to connect with the water that surrounds our city on three sides.

The Northland Nautical Foundation sponsors NORTHLAND SEA SCOUTS, based in Richmond, California, and is recruiting youth between 14 to 18 years old. The Northland ship is the former Navy ship USS PHOENIX TWR-771.

Northland has teamed up with Richmond PAL to recruit even more Richmond youth, with the first joint cruise August 18th, out to the East Brother Light Station. Visit the website of the Marina Bay Yacht Club for more information about the Northland Sea Scouts.

Northland is a Richmond California-based program for male youth between the ages of 14 and 18 years old (girls, contact Northland for a referral to a female Sea Scout Unit). Northland has Junior Officers between the ages of 18 and 21 years old and is always looking to recruit local youth who would be interested in its program. Northland teaches just about everything involving boating and maritime skills, safety, navigation, engineering, piloting, commissary, along with a lot of discipline. Oh, and a lot of fun too. Northland currently has four veteran Sea Scouts who have taken further study at the California Maritime Academy.
