RETURN
African Americans in Richmond during WWII

The evocative film, “Lost Conversations” by Betty Reid Soskin can now be seen on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdpDAGGXcD8. This video examines the experience of African-Americans on the World War II Home Front in Richmond, California, a study in contrasts about a time in American history when African-Americans experienced unprecedented advances in civil rights and economic opportunities accompanied by inexplicable and unforgivable racism.

Betty Reid Soskin produced this video while working for Rosie the Riveter World War II Home Front National Historical Park with funding from Rosie the Riveter Trust in a grant from the National Parks Foundation that, in turn, came form PG&E.

Betty is also prolific and consuming blogger whose works can be read at http://cbreaux.blogspot.com.
