North Richmond Shoreline Coalition Workshop

The work you do matters to the North Richmond Shoreline.  We invite you to attend:

North Richmond Shoreline Coalition Workshop

February 22nd, 2007, 3-6pm

North Richmond Senior Center

1708 5th St, Richmond, CA

The North Richmond Shoreline encompasses the waters, mudflats, marshes, and animals between Pt. San Pablo and Pt. Pinole on the San Pablo Bay.  It also includes the shoreline communities of Parchester Village, North Richmond, Richmond and San Pablo.  To these communities, plants, animals and waters, the Shoreline offers immense ecological and human value.  The long-term work of people and organizations such as yours working near or along the Shoreline will help sustain this rich resource.

Goals of Workshop:

1)      Learn about who is working to improve the environment along the North Richmond Shoreline.

2)      Share with others the work that you do that may be related to the North Richmond Shoreline.

3)      Identify areas for collaboration and resource sharing.

Who will attend: Groups working in community development, environment, education, or environmental justice along and near the North Richmond Shoreline.

This workshop will be hosted by the North Richmond Shoreline Academy - a project of the Community Health Initiative, Golden Gate Audubon Society, Natural Heritage Institute, Parchester Village Neighborhood Council, Urban Creeks Council, and West County Toxics Coalition.  The Academy’s mission is to provide opportunities for learning about the Shoreline through education, restoration, and monitoring.

Because improving the quality of life along the shoreline for both humans and animals will depend on many diverse groups working together, we hope you can join us in the critical coalition-building workshop. Let’s start linking efforts!

We will follow this letter up with a phone call to begin collecting information about your organization and the work you do.

After the meeting, we will serve pizza and show a 30-minute documentary about Rheem Creek, one of the three creeks that feed into the Shoreline.

Sincerely,

The North Richmond Shoreline Academy Project Team
