Early Christmas Present for Point Richmond - Peace and Quiet

Use of train horns will cease at 12:01 a.m. on December 20, 2006, in the West 2 Quiet Zone, which includes three crossings in Point Richmond; Garrard Boulevard, West Cutting Boulevard and Canal Boulevard. The West 1 Quiet Zone, which includes only the West Richmond Avenue grade crossing, is already in place.

The North Quiet Zone, near Parchester Village was the first to be established in Richmond, and the City is working with San Pablo to add the John Avenue crossing to eliminate remaining horns in the area.

The South Quiet Zone in Marina Bay will be next to be implemented but requires some grade crossing improvements to qualify. These improvements are being put in place by the Public Works Department.
