Explore Macdonald Avenue and Relive Exciting History
September 08, 2006

HIT THE STREET WITH US!

And share some Memories of Macdonald. Free walking tours take you to the sites, sounds and stories of Richmond’s past, present and future. See the spots where the sidewalks were packed with people on Saturday nights, strolling to the Fox Theatre, the Elks Club or Jigg’s Tavern.  Recall the days when teens “dragged the Main” in souped-up cars and met for burgers at Gordon’s Drive-In. Visit neighborhood business, scenes of civil rights protests, and an ancient Wisdom Tree in the middle of a parking lot.

Tours will focus on Richmond’s “Main Street area” on Macdonald Avenue between 8th and 16th Streets. These programs are also a chance to share your own memories of Macdonald and thoughts about the future of Richmond’s downtown.
Join us:    Sunday, Sept. 24th, 3-4:30 PM
                Monday, Sept. 25th, 5:30-7 PM
                Saturday October 7th, 3-4:30 PM

All tours start at Richmond’s Main Street office, 1000 Macdonald Avenue, Suite C. Light refreshments will be served.

Space is limited! Please call (510) 232-1547 to reserve your spot.

Sponsored by Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park, Richmond Community Redevelopment Agency and Richmond Main Street Initiative.
