We're Back!

Point Richmond Music (PRM) is excited to share that our free summer concerts return on Friday, July 8th with Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band and Aki Kumar! PRM, an all-volunteer non-profit organization, produces the series in support of its mission to build community through the unifying language of music. We can't wait to see you dancing in the streets once again!

Our music festival takes place on the second Friday of each month, July through September, from 5:30pm to 8:00pm in historic downtown Point Richmond (Park Place between West Richmond and Washington Avenues).

“We are thrilled to bring back our free concert series,” said Andrew Butt, PRM Board President. “We’ve all missed the camaraderie and inspiration that happens when you bring the community together with live music, and we look forward to sharing the rich range of musical diversity that our region has to offer.”

Local restaurants offer a wide array of cuisines, and a rotating selection of food trucks pull up to each concert. Concert-goers can pair fine food with beverages served in biodegradable cups from PRM’s no host bar, with proceeds directly supporting the music series. Festival-style seating is available with a limited number of chairs provided, and concert-goers are encouraged to bring their own festival/lawn chairs. Please visit www.pointrichmondmusic.org for more information.

Brothers Miles and Teo Quale are joined by bassist Andrew Osborn and guitarist John Gooding, outstanding young musicians of the vibrant California bluegrass scene. Nominated for the 2021 International Bluegrass Music Association’s Band Momentum Award and winners of the 2018 Pickin’ in the Pines Band Contest in Flagstaff AZ, CUBG is making waves in the world of bluegrass and acoustic music.

6:45pm - 8:00pm – Aki Kumar https://www.akikumar.com/
Aki Kumar left his native home in Mumbai, India for the United States with the intention of working as a software engineer. Then he discovered the sounds of the blues, and his life changed dramatically. One of the hardest working artists on the music scene today, this San Jose-based musician has successfully blended elements of Indian music into his musical and visual presentation, making for a multi-cultural mash-up that sounds like no one else, yet never loses touch with the inspiration it draws from the blues. He has made multiple appearances at The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival, has been featured on PRI “The World,” and has toured in Russia, Scandinavia and South America.

He embarked on a path with specific knowledge and extraordinary talents at a very young age. True to his culture and love of music, he has crafted a career well beyond his years as an artist. Andre's style isn't conventional; he and his accordions provide a signature sound by creating magnetic, sonic landscapes. The rhythmic songs drive an atmospheric blend, giving his band a powerful edge, naturally building a dedicated following through performing, touring, and a string of album recordings.
