Tonight Only: Evie Ladin Band &
The Lucky Losers Take the Stage!

Our summer-long concert series welcomes the acclaimed Evie Ladin Band (neo-trad kinetic folk) and The Lucky Losers (Americana) to the stage this evening! Join us at the corner of Park Place and Washington Avenue for a street party like no other. From 5:30pm to 8:00pm, downtown Point Richmond transforms into a family-friendly festival with live music, face-painting for children, an opportunity drawing, and dancing in the street. And a special treat: Evie Ladin will call some simple square dances for us from 5:30 to 6:30pm. Our 2017 line-up is at www.pointrichmondmusic.org.
Local restaurants offer a wide array of cuisines and a rotating selection of food trucks will pull up to each concert, including Curbside Kitchen and Maya Taqueria. And it’s not a party without ice cream; Humboldt Creamery will hand out free tastes of its organic chocolate, vanilla and strawberry flavors. Concert-goers can pair fine food with beverages served from PRM’s no host bar, featuring craft beer from sponsors-in-kind Benoit Casper Brewing and Lagunitas Brewing Company, with proceeds directly supporting the music series. Please visit www.pointrichmondmusic.org for more information.
5:30 - 6:00pm – Evie Ladin Band (neo-trad kinetic folk)
www.evieladin.com
Grounded in Appalachian old-time repertoire, seasoned in African-diaspora roots, and composing original music inspired by life in Oakland and globe-spanning tours, the kinetic Evie Ladin Band erases the lines between music and movement. A trio of tenaciously innovative string musicians and dancers, the combo features Ladin’s clawhammer banjo, resonant voice and rhythmic dance, Keith Terry’s body music, bass and vocals, and Erik Pearson’s guitar, banjo and vocals. The band’s eponymous 2012 release won Americana Album of the Year from the Independent Music Awards and critics heralded the 2016 follow up Jump the Fire for introducing a truly original sound in new old-time Americana. Here they add Dane Miller and Nick Blechman to create a real Old Time Ruckus.

6:45 - 8:00pm –
The Lucky Losers (Americana)
www.theluckylosers.com
The Lucky Losers deliver an inventive, hypnotic spin on 60’s blues and roots music. Cathy Lemons and Phil Berkowitz breathe new life into American songwriting tradition and the vanishing art of duet singing. The stark contrast between Lemons’ velvet voice with gritty edge and Berkowitz’ elegant tenor makes for an electrifying performance. They have been nominated for “Best Traditional Album - 2015,” “Best Contemporary Album - 2016” and “Best Harmonica Player - 2016” by Blues 411. Critics from Rolling Stone to Living Blues have given this songwriting/singing team rave reviews. We like the audience to take part and become involved in it all.”

About Point Richmond Music:
Point Richmond Music (PRM) is a 501c3 nonprofit public benefit organization that provides free outdoor summer concerts as a way to build community through the unifying language of music. PRM concerts provide a gathering place for people of all ages, ethnicities, and walks of life by featuring musical talent from Richmond, the Bay Area and beyond. In addition to producing a free summer concert series, the group is proud to help support year-round music through its sponsorship of the Point Richmond Acoustic and Point Richmond Jazz series, which run October through May at the First United Methodist Church, and to foster the development of the next generation of musicians through contributions to Washington Elementary School’s music program. Sixteen years of this collaborative effort have relied on donations of time and money from volunteers and local businesses and organizations.

Sang Matiz
5:30 - 6:30 PM
www.sangmatiz.com

Sang Matiz fuses energetic World and Afro-Brazilian/Peruvian beats with contemporary rhythms such as pop, jazz, and funk. They've perfected a unique combination of catchy, syncopated melodies with flamenco-styled finger picking. In 2015, Sang Matiz was chosen to open for the legendary Cuban band Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra for their final “Adios Tour." Throughout the years, they’ve also collaborated with renowned Bay Area musicians such as: Mario Alberto Silva (Master Trumpeter), Miguelito Martinez (Master Flutist/Composer), and Grammy Award-winner Braulio Barrera (Pacific Mambo Orchestra), Jorge Santana (Malo) and Pete Escovedo.

Pangea Futbol Club
6:45 - 8:00 PM
www.pangeafc.com

Pangea F.C. was formed in 2007 in San Francisco from an international community gathering together to play one of their passions: "football" (aka soccer). The community harbored many talents from all corners of the earth. The great diversity of influences and styles became apparent in each gathering, where music was a common element. The idea of making music together finally took shape in the form of Pangea F.C., a spiral of international sounds influenced by flavors from the Americas, Arabic melodies, African rhythms, Gypsy harmonies, Asian scales and European influences.
