PARTNERS IN PRESERVATION
MAIN STREET CAMPAIGN SEPTEMBER 25TH - OCTOBER 31ST.

Richmond Main Street Initiative Hosting "Open House Weekend" Event Highlighting Importance of Downtown Richmond's Preservation on Saturday, October 7th.

Richmond CA -- September 25, 2017 --  As a participant of the Partners in Preservation: Main Streets campaign, Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI) is encouraging the public to visit VoteYourMainStreet.org to help Downtown Richmond secure funding to support the restoration of the Marquee at Market Square Mall, located at 322 Harbour Way. The new marquee and sign at this 1924 historic site, between Macdonald and Nevin Avenues, will light up Downtown Richmond along one of its most visible intersections and widely-traveled thoroughfares. Richmond is the only Bay Area city
that's been nominated to compete for this award.

Partners in Preservation is a community-based partnership, created by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express, to raise awareness of the importance of preserving historic places and their role in sustaining local communities.

Partners in Preservation: Main Streets will award $2 million in grant funding from American Express to Main Street districts in need of preservation support across America. The public will determine which sites will receive funding by voting for their favorite main streets through October 31 at VoteYourMainStreet.org, the online voting portal hosted by National Geographic Travel.

Partners in Preservation: Main Streets Open House Weekend

RMSI will host an Open House Weekend event on Saturday, October 7 at the Market Square Mall from 11am until 3pm, highlighting the importance of Main Street preservation efforts in Downtown Richmond CA. Richmond Main Street Initiative is one of twenty-five historic Main Street districts across the country participating in the Partners in Preservation: Main Streets Open House Weekend.
