  Birthday Fundraiser March 30
March 24, 2016

I celebrated my actual birthday yesterday, March 23, by helping National Park Service Deputy Director Denise Ryan hand out free passes to fourth graders at the Craneway so they and their families could visit every national park free for a year.

Then we had lunch at Assemble. Unfortunately I had to go to a Contra Costa Transportation Authority meeting last night, so I still have some celebrating to do.

But next Wednesday, March 30, you can help me continue to celebrate by attending my Campaign Fundraiser, from 5pm - 7pm at Kaleidoscope in Point Richmond. If you have already responded, Thank you! If not, you don’t want to miss this opportunity.

Thanks to your support, I was elected to a four year term as mayor in 2014, receiving more than 50 percent of the vote in a three way race. Now I need your help to keep Richmond moving forward for the next three years.

The proceeds from this fundraiser will be used, among other things, to pay for opportunities I have to represent the City of Richmond at regional, national and international events, such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change – Congress of the Parties 21 (UNFCC COP21), the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the League of California Cities and the Local Government Commission. There are insufficient funds in the mayor’s budget to pay for these activities, yet the information and contacts derived from them have brought tens of millions of dollars in grants to the City of Richmond.

That’s why I’m asking you to consider making the maximum contribution of $2,500 to my campaign in support of these efforts. Please let me know if you can join me on March 30th.
