RICHMOND -- The community can welcome the new sports season at the Richmond Little League Baseball and Girl's Softball 2015 Opening Day Parade on Saturday.
Uniformed players and dignitaries will set out at 9 a.m. from the parking lot at 24th Street and Nevin Avenue for the seven-block parade up Macdonald Avenue to Nicholl Park, where they will circle the grounds before going to the baseball fields for opening day ceremonies.
Mayor Tom Butt will throw the ceremonial first pitch that officially starts the youth baseball and softball seasons.
"I love baseball," Butt said in a news release. "It's inspiring to see our next generation of young athletes get involved in sports, especially baseball and softball."
The Richmond Little League is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 16 who live in the city or attend a school there. For more details visit www.RichmondLL.org.
