MLK Park Baseball Field Dedication - Saturday, May 31st, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
May 29, 2014

Baseball Field Dedication
In September 2013, the Richmond Community Foundation, working with the City of Richmond, submitted a grant proposal to the Energize Your Field program sponsored by the Oakland Athletics (Oakland A’s) and Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) for the renovation of the baseball field at Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Park.  In April 2014, we learned that Richmond’s MLK baseball field was selected for a renovation. The Oakland A’s, along with the Good Tidings Foundation, will undertake this renovation. Work started on May 7th and will continue until the field dedication ceremony on Saturday, May 31st.

You are invited to attend the field dedication ceremony on Saturday, May 31st at noon on the newly renovated MLK Baseball field! The field dedication ceremony will start at 12:00pm with speeches from the vice president of the Oakland A’s, a representative from PG&E and Mayor McLaughlin.

We just learned that Oakland A’s Outfielder Josh Reddick is attending and will participate in a baseball clinic with Richmond little league players from 12:15pm to 1:00pm. The event will end at 1:00pm. Even though we were only allowed one speaker from the City of Richmond, the MC, who is Mack Neal “Shotty” Babitt,  will acknowledge elected officials that attend the event. You can also sit on the field during the speeches from 12:00pm – 12:15pm, if you so desire. If possible, please let me know by 5:00pm tomorrow, Thursday, May 29th , if you plan to attend so that you can be properly acknowledged.
