From Councilmember Jim Rogers - Progressive Majority Populist, not "Radical"
October 24, 2012

Jim Rogers asked me to share the following that he wrote:

Recent news articles have claimed that the progressive 5 vote majority on the Richmond Council is pursuing a "radical" political agenda for Richmond.

Examples cited were the Advisory Measure supporting a Constitutional Amendment to stop corporate and other special interest campaign contributions from overwhelming our democracy, As the author of the agenda item endorsing the millionare's tax, I can assure you there is nothing radical about endorsing a very slight correction to the decades long war being successfully waged by the 1% on the rest of us.

When Obama suggests similar minor modifications at the Federal level (e.g. Ending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy), he is accused of " class warfare." Ironically enough this accusation is made by the same people who have won their "class warfare" and now want a truce.

In spite of the brilliant PR campaign by the 1% the truth is seeping out and about 80% of the voters support these minor modifications.
