Quiet Zone Extension Goes Live on October
October 8, 2012

One of the most difficult and complex Quiet Zones to be established so far in Richmond will silence horns at 4th Street and Cutting Boulevard beginning October 25, 2012. Horns from this grade crossing in south central Richmond directly affect neighborhoods in Point Richmond, Atchison Village, Santa Fe, Coronado and Marina Bay. Depending on wind and weather conditions, the Iron Triangle, City Center, Pullman and Cortez-Stege will also see relief. Click here for the Notice of Establishment.

This Quiet Zone is the result of a noise reduction mitigation condition connected to the Honda Port of Entry Project approved unanimously in 2008 by the City Council. It will result in the elimination of 50 to 100 98-decibel horn blasts every day and night.

Enjoy your sleep!
