Borrow a Seed at the Richmond Library
May 11, 2010

The Richmond Grows Seed Lending Library is officially open! The seed lending library is open to members to "borrow" seeds. It's easy to become a member. Just sign up and attend one of our free half-hour orientations. We have a wide collection of edibles including dozens of varieties of tomatoes, beans, squashes and peppers and much more! We also have a cabinet of herbs and another with flowers, California natives and other ornamental plants. At the orientation, you'll learn about how the library is organized, what does it mean to "borrow" seeds and why a free seed library is valuable to our community. Attending an orientation will give you the privilege to borrow (and hopefully return) seeds any time the library is open.

We will have on-going orientations. Click on one of the links below to sign up for a May orientation:
Saturday, May 8th 11-11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, May 18th from 6-6:30 pm
Saturday, May 22nd from 11-11:30 am

All orientations are held at Richmond Grows, which is located in the former Reference Desk area in the main branch of the Richmond Public Library.

Check us out on the web at RichmondGrows.org. We're a collaborative project between the Richmond Rivets and the Richmond Public Library. To our knowledge we are the first seed lending library in the nation that is housed in a public library.

If you have a group that would be interested in having an orientation, feel free to contact us at RichmondGrows@gmail.com.
