Ghost Stories from Shipyard 3
This is your last call for Ghosts of Shipyard 3 tomorrow at noon at the historic Kaiser Richmond Shipyard 3, a Richmond Rotary fundraiser designed to fight violence like the recent Kennedy high School rape. You can do your part and have a great time at an unusual event in an unusual venue.

Here is a real ghost story about the USS General Omar Bundy (AP-152) ,a General G. O. Squier-class transport ship for the U.S. Navy in World War II. She was named in honor of U.S. Army general Omar Bundy. She was transferred to the U.S. Army as USAT General Omar Bundy in 1946. She was later sold for commercial operation under several names, before being declared missing and presumed sunk.[1] General Omar Bundy (AP-152) was launched 5 August 1944 under a Maritime Commission contract (MC #704) by the Kaiser Co., Richmond, California; sponsored by Mrs. Lawrence of Richmond; acquired and simultaneously commissioned 6 January 1945, Captain L. Wainwright in command.

After several reincarnations under various civilian owners, the ship, renamed SS Poet, disappeared forever on Halloween, 1981, in the Bermuda Triangle with all hands on board. For more information, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_General_Omar_Bundy_(AP-152).

Please help Richmond Rotary, and our sponsors, Chevron, Mechanics Bank, Richmond Sanitary, Richmond Chamber, Wells Fargo Bank, and MSH Group, fight violence in Richmond for the second year and attend our annual Ghosts of Shipyard III lunch event this coming Friday, October 30.

Major wineries have donated a large quantity of premium wines to Richmond Rotary for the Peace Project. Here is a good chance to get a twofer and enjoy fine wines at bargain prices while doing good!
