Rosie Gets New Chief of Interpretation

Parks of the East Bay of San Francisco (Rosie the Riveter/WWII Homefront, John Muir NHS, Eugene O’Neil NHS, Port Chicago NM) will soon have a new Chief of Interpretation.  Morgan Smith will be transferring from his current position at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in mid-July.  Morgan has a Masters of Science Degree in Museum Education from Bank Street College in New York City.  During his graduate studies he gained experience in exhibit and program development at Children’s Museum of Manhattan. At the City Parks Foundation he worked with school programs then became a teacher in the private school sector. In 2004, he became a Ranger at the Statue of Liberty NM where he served a diverse audience through school and public programs.  As supervisory Ranger/Education Specialist at Ellis Island he oversaw daily operations at a park that serves three million annual visitors. He worked closely with park partners, collaborated with community groups and worked with park rangers in creating programs and technology based exhibits to supplement their interpretive message.
