Not yet available on line are statements from “independent” committees, which are typically PACs that spend money promoting or attacking specific candidates. They are on file at the City Clerk’s Office and may be obtained on request. Also, some of the independent committees file with Contra Costa County to make it more difficult to obtain their statements, which require a trip to Martinez to the Office of the County Clerk-Recorder.
