Little League to Return to Richmond?
A number of individual and organizations are meeting next week to re-establish a Little League program in Richmond. They invite anyone interested in being part of the effort to join them at an organizational meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, at the Coronado Community YMCA at 263 S. 20th St.

Involved so far are the City of Richmond Parks and Recreation Department, the Richmond Police Activities League, the West Contra Costa Unified School District, the YMCA, area churches and retired ballplayers such as Mike Felder and Eddie Miller. Actually having a functioning program, though, takes a lot of active involvement by parents and others.

"We're just trying to get some buzz going and get some volunteers," said Don Lau, vice president of the West Contra Costa YMCA. "We're looking for folks interested in bringing back baseball to Richmond. This is kind of an organizational meeting."

Supporters have been meeting for about seven months, and if there is enough involvement, they hope to start a program in the spring.

For details, call Lau at 510-412-5647.
