Richmond City Council Sponsored Black History Month Reception

A Look at the Past... a Look to the Future: The African-American Experience in Richmond.

 

In recognition of Black History Month The Richmond City Council is sponsoring a reception on Tuesday Feb 6th 2007 from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM in The City Council Chambers located at 1401 Marina Way South. The public is invited to attend.

 

There will be food, entertainment, and a panel discussion focusing on the contributions of African-Americans from Richmond and a discussion on how to use the rich history of Richmond African-Americans to improve the conditions facing African-Americans in Richmond now and in the future.

George Livingston, Former Richmond Mayor

Jim McMillian, Former Richmond City Councilman

Betty Reid Soskins, City of Richmond, Rosie the Riveter Historic Trust

Ken Nelson, President Richmond NAACP

Barbara Becnel, Executive Director, Neighborhood House of North Richmond

Rev. Andre Shumake, Richmond Improvement Association
