  Staying Informed on Richmond Events
May 13, 2005

There are always lots of things to do in Richmond, Some are fun; some are educational and some are civic. A good way to stay informed is to bookmark and regularly visit Internet resources such as the City of Richmond list known as “The Greensheet” only because it is green for some reason lost in the sands of time. It is posted weekly, usually by Friday at http://www.ci.richmond.ca.us/cityclerk/greensheetpage.htm, then click on “Current Greensheet.” An example of an announcement follows:

STATE LIBRARIAN WILL SPEAK IN RICHMOND

Susan Hildreth, California’s new state librarian will speak at the annual meeting of The Friends of the Richmond Public Library on Monday, May 23, at 7:00 p.m., Richmond Public Library, Whittlesey Room, 325 Civic Center Plaza. The public is invited to attend to hear Ms. Hildreth share how she became the state’s librarian, the roles and responsibilities of the state’s library, and more.

Many neighborhoods have web sites with announcements that are either specific to or have special interest for those neighborhoods, but many are also of city-wide interest. Examples are http://www.pointrichmond.com, http://www.brickyardrealty.com/gazette.htm, http://www.northandeast.org, http://www.ranc.org/who.html and http://www.marinabaycouncil.com.
