Residents sought for grand jury seats

Residents are being sought to serve on the Contra Costa County grand jury. To ensure that the grand jury reflects the makeup of the county's residents, officials particularly seek West County applicants.

The county has set May 14 as the deadline to apply for its next grand jury, an all-purpose civilian panel to watch over the spending and efficiency of city, county, school and special-district governments.

Jurors must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old and must have lived in the county for a year.

Jurors may attend three or more meetings per week and will receive $15 per meeting plus mileage.
