The public is invited to attend the Swearing-In Ceremony for the re-elected and newly-elected City Council members on Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at 6:00 PM in the Richmond City Council Chamber, 1401 Marina Way South. Light refreshment will be served following the ceremony.

This will be the only activity of the evening. There will be no City Council meeting and no opportunity for the public to speak, read poetry, demonstrate, praise their favorites or condemn their adversaries. If past practices are a guide, this will be an opportunity to meet the families of City Council members and hear re-elected and newly-elected City Council members thank their supporters and swear at their detractors while perhaps hinting at what they want to accomplish in the coming years.
