  Richmond Music Blowout
August 13, 2003

THIS SATURDAY IS IT -- AUGUST 16 FROM 12:00 Noon to 7:30 PM. POINT RICHMOND MUSIC will put on its first all-day festival featuring the fabulous music of seven bands, great art by over 30 artists, a side-walk chalk event for young and old alike, and great food by the local Point Richmond restaurants. For details, see http://www.pointrichmond.com/prmusic/schedule.htm.

To warm you up for the Point Richmond festival, don’t miss the conclusion of the 4TH ANNUAL "MUSIC ON THE MAIN" SUMMER CONCERT SERIES ON AUGUST 14. On Thursday, August 14 from 5 to 7PM, Richmond Main Street will present its third and final concert in the 4th Annual "Music on the Main" free summer series at the downtown Richmond Enterprise Center Lawn, Macdonald Avenue and 12th Street. The show will feature Sonata Pi, a jazz and R&B ensemble that was a highlight of last summer's series, and a popular performer at the Monterey Bay Blues Festival and Fillmore Street Jazz Festival.

The KISS 98.1 FM Groove Crew will again be on hand to entertain the audience between sets with giveaways, contests and both new and "old school" R & B tunes. Free concert T-shirts will be given to the first twenty-five concertgoers. The Richmond Main Street Initiative, Inc. is a community-based organization dedicated to revitalizing historic downtown Richmond as a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly urban village with products, services, arts and entertainment that reflect the community's rich and diverse heritage. For further information, please contact Renée Hill, Main Street Executive Director, at (510) 236-4050.
