Richmond Leads All Cities in Bay Trail Construction
January 25, 2003

Richmond has become the Bay Trail City with more spine Bay Trail built than any other city on this planned 400-mile recreation and transportation corridor encircling San Francisco and San Pablo Bays.

In 2002 Richmond reached a milestone by completing half of its planned Bay Trail. With four miles of trail built during 2002, Richmond now has 18 miles of Bay Trail, linking neighborhoods with Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline, the Lucretia Edwards, Vincent, Marina Bay and Shimada Shoreline Parks, and Point Isabel Regional Shoreline.

The New Year Report describes almost five miles of additional trail scheduled for constuction in 2003, as well as planning studies underway which will lead to more completed trail links. The upbeat, colorful Richmond Bay Trail New Year Report is now available to download as pdf files from: http://www.pointrichmond.com/baytrails/report.htm and http://www.ci.richmond.ca.us/trac/.

TRAC, the Trails for Richmond Action Committee, encourages you, your family and friends to get out and enjoy the Bay Trail in Richmond. A map showing the completed trail also is available at the above web site.
