News To Air Memorial Day Special Featuring Richmond May 25, 2001 |

Fox News (Channel 59 on local cable) will air a Memorial Day special presentation “Pearl Harbor - Day of Infamy, Day of Destiny,” on Sunday, May 27, at 6:00 PM California Time and Monday, May 28, at 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM, California Time. Although I do not know the actual content of the program, it is interesting how Richmond’s role in it came about. The Fox News director in charge of the program called me after looking at the Rosie the Riveter Trust web site (www.rosietheriveter.org). She was looking for some specific information about World War II. In talking with her about the focus of the program, I and several other local people who have been active in the Rosie the Riveter World War II Home Front National Historical Park activities, persuaded her that the upheavals that occurred in Richmond after Pearl Harbor would be a compelling snapshot of how America plunged into the war effort. Fax News apparently agreed and decided to make Richmond a major feature of the program. |
